A reader who looks to have their head on straight emailed us a listing from an Ohio dealership inquiring $11,260 for a 2013 Toyota Corolla that, to my untrained eye, could not be value $11,260, in regular circumstances at the very least. Regrettably, we’re not residing in standard situations.
In circumstance you skipped it:
Now, once more, I’m not an skilled but that is an exciting panel hole. That might have not been Toyota’s supposed make, and in its place the result of either a collision or vandalism, but who can say. That also appears like it could be the donut as a substitute of the common wheel and tire, though quite possibly it is just that the hub cap is missing neither condition is excellent.
Maybe if we zoom out factors get much better:
G/O Media might get a fee
Not truly! As the damage is nonetheless really noticeable. The car’s description suggests, “Road Completely ready! Security Checked!, Thoroughly clean Carfax,” and at least one particular of those people factors will have to be legitimate. The listing claims the Corolla LE has 134,685 miles, which is not ridiculous for a Toyota but isn’t good both.
The listing also claims that this car or truck has a “retail price” of $12,895 but that Ricart is providing the “live sector-primarily based price” of $11,260 after implementing a $1,635 discounted for no obvious reason. These numbers are not wholly manufactured up at all.
For reference, I appeared up a similar Corolla on Kelley Blue Book and they estimated it would be worth around $7,000 at most, which is much less than $11,260. To be apparent, it is not that Ricart is executing something mistaken right here they can demand regardless of what they want for their vehicles and since the current market is in a odd spot proper now, it would seem that they are.
The relaxation of us, though, do not have to fake that it is nearly anything other than odd to see a car of this age, issue, and mileage asking 5 figures. I messaged Ricart to see if they can shed any more light-weight on the subject and will update this submit if I hear again.
